Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems

Where "The future begins tomorrow."

Special Notice to Anyone Who Has Seen "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension":

1. Contrary to what you may have inferred from this motion picture, Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems is, in fact, a real company and is not, in fact, owned and staffed by aliens from some other dimension.

2. "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension" was the brainchild of a senior staff member of one of Yoyodyne's "friendly competitors" , the Banzai Institute for Biomedical Engineering & Strategic Information. Yoyodyne attempted to respond in kind with a motion picture entitled "The Adventures of Lord Morphin Across the Eighth Dimension" which enjoyed even less commercial success than the Banzai Institute's picture.

3. Although Yoyodyne's lawsuit against the Banzai Institute for libel was dismissed by the Middlesex County Court, the Judge did so on the basis that ". . .no one in their right minds (sic) would really believe that anything in this movie was true."

An acknowledged leader in aerospace research, Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems was founded on October 31. 1938 by John Whorfin upon his arrival in Grover's Mill, New Jersey, U.S.A. With Whorfin's untimely (and as yet unexplained) departure in 1982, the corporate headquarters were moved to Trevorstein, Wotanberg. All of the company's research facilities were maintained in Grover Mills until 1999 when the the John Whorfin Research Institute was opened on the island of Mokojava in the Seiber Islands. Although all research and development personnel and activities have been tranferred to Mokojava, a small staff remains in Grover's Mill to maintain the Yoyodyne Museum and Visitor Center.

Last year, Yoyodyne was proud to announce its GATOR System ("Gravitational Anomaly Targeting Optimized Rocket System"). According to Dr. John "Gator" McKlusky, Program Manager for GATOR, this system will facilitate the accurate targeting of 2.75 inch free flight rockets which have been used by armies around the word for decades. The key to the system is the GATOR-AID ("GATOR Anomaly Interpretation Device") which utilizes a truly revolutionary technology to detect and analyze the minute changes in the earth's gravitational field created by all objects, including military targets. The GATOR has been sucessfully field tested by the Grand Duchy of Wotanberg on its Grand Ducal Gun Boat McHale and is now fully operational on that famous boat.

Yoyodyne is now proud to announce its lastest accomplishment: the full integration of the GATOR-AID with a number of off-the-shelf radar systems. At the risk of causing some confusion, we have decided that the generic name for these systems will be GATOR ("Gravitational Anomaly Targeting Optimized Radar") while the name GATORS will be used to describe the original rocket system. The new GATOR will be retrofitted on the GDGB McHale and other GATORS already in use with units of both the Grand Duchy of Wotanberg and the Seiber Islands. The new GATOR is also being used by Barataria Industries on their new Banshee and Basset II weapon systems.
